What’s Your Why?

Perry’s why started on the playground in 5th grade, it grew in a living room in St. Paul, MN when he was 16, and it was sealed the night Jesus healed his excruciating ankle sprain when he was 18.

Have you ever had a moment when your expectations didn’t line up with your reality? What do you do with that? Shawna experienced that when she found out she was going to be a long distance, international, grandma. Habakkuk 3:17-19 helped her to shift her focus from her circumstances to God.

Perry admits, “It’s easy from me, an achiever, to feel like admitting my sin to God and turning from it is a work I need to perform and get right to keep God’s favor.”

When everything’s going wrong, go to God. As Shawna started journaling a letter to God with the intention of being ruthlessly honest, the Lord revealed to her what was really at the heart of the matter. Her journal entry ended like most Psalms: Giving glory to God for who He is.

Lastly, there is power in prayer. Jesus said all authority in heaven and earth was given to Him. There’s power when we pray in His name. Pray in faith believing all things are possible.
