Is a cash boost the answer to rural GP shortages?
Many Australians living in rural and remote areas have higher levels of chronic disease, shorter lives and poorer access to health services, compared with people living in metropolitan areas.
To help tackle these issues, the Queensland government has announced a cash incentive to try and boost GP numbers and encourage more young doctors to work in rural and remote communities.
