Why is the government ruling out access to sex work under the NDIS?
Over the weekend, the Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Bill Shorten, said that access to sex work would be banned from the NDIS under planned reforms.
Theoretically, specialised sex services have been available since a Federal court ruling in 2020, which found that the services should be approved, when deemed 'reasonable and necessary'.
But despite raising concerns over sustainability, Mr Shorten said that he was only aware of "one or two examples" of it ever happening"
