Preparing today’s children for a futuristic digital tomorrow: part three-Self-advocacy and details in individuality development.
Welcome back to the third part of this series. Join me as Mrs. Cohen, principal of EKHLA, Mrs. Jawanda, and Mrs. Smith(vice principals of EKHLA) discuss how students transition from self-reflection to individuality development. Each student’s voice is valued, and educators encourage self-advocacy. Reviews from some parents who had their children at EKHLA voiced complaints about their child being assigned too much homework or their expectations not being met. Some schools are not for all children. It’s essential to recognize the diversity of schools in our country, each with its unique strengths. Not every school is a perfect fit for every child. Regardless of your child’s school, I would like to encourage you to carefully assess it. Ask yourself: Is this school effectively preparing my child for the digital future?
With an open mind, it is worth reflecting on the environment children are in most of their awake hours because the environment has a strong developmental impact on developing brains. Are mindfulness skills intertwined with the school’s core values?
Eleanor Kolitz Hebrew Language Academy is doing very well. Other schools are ranked higher than Eleanor Kolitz Hebrew Language Academy. I encourage you to ask the same questions. If you are homeschooling your child, how are you preparing your child through the homeschooling program to function and contribute to their future communities, along with bringing values and principles into the next generation? What is your child’s academic environment like? Is your child’s school preparing students for the future in a digital world? I hope these questions help stimulate thinking about preparing children for the future.
