Episode 124: What you do now with what God has given you with Julie Osmundsen

Sarah and Julie Osmundsen begin their conversation with talking about their love of east coast beaches, specifically the beaches in Delaware that they have both vacationed at many times. Another fun fact they talk about is that Julie and her husband Gary used to teach natural child birthing classes! You will get a sense of the ease that comes with talking with Julie. When they get into her story Julie shares that she was the youngest of seven kids. It was a blended family, making the house very busy and unfortunately also dysfunctional. Her parents had actually divorced but they still lived together in the home which created a difficult dynamic. Julie's Dad was verbally, emotionally and physically abusive and her childhood was rough. This experience inspired her to become a special education teacher because she wanted to reach kids that had a hard time. Growing up, Julie had never heard about Jesus but believed in God though she never went to church or had a Bible. Before entering college, she worked at a YMCA where a co-worker who was a Christian introduced her to Jesus. Her conversion experience is so sweet! Later Julie talks about praying for God to use her as an encouragement to others and God used a unique event to allow that to happen. She ended up getting Bell's Palsy from a soccer injury, but God had a plan and purpose for this! He used her injury to encourage and inspire others. Another amazing part to Julie's story is her process of reconciling with her Dad. There are so many wonderful stories included in this podcast! Julie shares about teaching special education in five different states, life with four kids, the power of evangelism, not letting circumstances define you and so much more. You will be encouraged by this conversation with a wonderful woman of God!
