TJ 265 - Doug Hart – Joefest2024 Bar chat with the GI Joe legendary package art illustrator

Mark and Joe fan Geoff Thornburg were chatting to Illustrator Doug Hart in the Marriott bar on the Sunday evening of JoeFest and we decided to turn on the recorder for a ramble chat, touching on his most recent illustration, Clanker & Tank from Operation: Recall, some of his favourite work for G.I Joe at Hasbro, the joy of working vs the politics of the workplace, techniques and influences, and much more. It’s a less structured chat than normal, with some background noise from the bar, but we hope you agree this is an enjoyable chart with a GI Joe legend! Doug Hart joined Hasbro in 1984 as an illustrator – initially working on My Little Pony. He was called to serve the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero brand in 1987 and painted beautiful figure and box art until then end of the line in 1994. He was at JoeFest 2024: Douglas Hart as his art was showcased in the art of G.I.JOE Omnibus from 3D Joes as well as his modern work for card art on the O ring figures from Callsign: Longbow, Operation: Recall, and Skeletron!
