In this episode, I'm chatting with Jason Elmore, a return guest from Episode #10. Today, Jason talks about his handy app, Find Me Gluten Free, and the new features he’s created to make finding a safe, gluten-free restaurant even easier than before! We chat about his favorite, local, gluten-free restaurants in Portland, Oregon and fun activities you’ll want to do next time you visit Oregon.
Find Me Gluten Free App
Jason Elmore was diagnosed with Celiac disease shortly after graduating with his computer science degree. He found that dining out and eating safely gluten-free was a huge challenge, so he decided to put his skill set to work, creating an app to assist those of us who are gluten-free in finding safe food at restaurants. Jason worked on weekends for over a year to create his app, which features finding gluten-free restaurants, along with reviews from others who lead a gluten-free lifestyle.
With a community of over 3 million people, Find Me Gluten Free is the most popular on-the-go resource for the gluten-free traveler, where the gluten-free among us can easily find and read reviews on restaurants all over the United States. Find Me Gluten Free is a tool that anyone who leads the gluten-free lifestyle should have in their toolbox! Use it at home to discover new restaurants in your area and use it while traveling - either within the US or abroad - to easily find restaurants to eat at close by and safe!
Find Me Gluten Free App Free and Premium Features
There are two versions of Find Me Gluten Free - a paid and a free version. The free version of the app gives you restaurants by location that are gluten-free friendly and dedicated gluten-free friendly. In the free version of the app, you can also search for a type of food such as pizza, beer, bakeries, breakfast, and dinner.
The paid version (which is a no-brainer if you’re Celiac) has features such as sorting by most Celiac friendly and details about dedicated space and utensils, so you know which restaurants have the best and safest gluten-free protocol. Bookmark restaurants you want to go to so you can remember which places you’d like to visit in the future.
Read Gluten Free Restaurant Reviews
Leave reviews and pictures of your favorite places with the Find Me Gluten Free App. When I travel, I like to see where I’ve eaten safely and return to that restaurant to eat again. You can also find out other users' favorite places to eat, where they’ve left reviews, and which restaurants are on their hit list. In addition to reviews, you can find out what types of foods different restaurants serve and which gluten-free protocol a restaurant has in place.
COVID Gluten Free Restaurant Features
When COVID hit, the pandemic turned the restaurant industry on its head. With hours, seating, and many other factors changing, Jason added COVID information so that our community could add information about how and when you could dine and if the establishment was still open.
New Features added in Find Me Gluten Free App
Finding gluten-free products in the supermarket can be challenging to say the least! Being Celiac, Jason understands this challenge and has added the ability to find new products, brands, and products on the Find Me Gluten Free App with the Discover feature. You can add recipes, photos, comment on fresh foods, find out where to get different gluten-free foods, and interact with other gluten-free members of our community.
