Zero and Wiz RECOMMEND Walkabout
Walkabout, Nicolas Roeg's survival film about two kids having to make it back to civilization through the Australian desert, is actually not really about surviving at all.
It's a film that is blanketed with multiple themes and interpretations that give the film a much deeper, dark feeling that what was expected.
You can see that in the reviewers thoughts on the film itself:
Both themes are supported in the film through it's imagery and the way Roeg captures the environment throughout the story being played out.
It's not a film for everyone, however: Walkabout has some scenes of animals being abused, cut open and hunted as well as scenes of full frontal nudity.
But if you can handle those scenes (or look away when they happen?), you are in for a thoughtful, emotional and powerfully entrancing trek through the desert.
