Clyde Johnston is a golf course architecture and designer based out of Hilton Head Island, SC. After growing up the son of a golf professional, and being around golf his entire life, at the recommendation of some of the era’s best architects he went on to earn a degree in landscape architecture from N.C. State University. Soon after he got his first job with William C. Byrd & Associates, a golf community and course design firm, designing in the Atlanta area. Not long after that was sent to Hilton Head Island, SC to consult and do design work, and never left. Clyde is one of the most sought-after architects in the Southeast and country and has designed golf courses around the world. Clyde’s fingerprints are on some of the Lowcountry’s most beautiful golf courses. Now in his 70’s he still loves what he does and continues to work with many golf courses and developers on developing new courses or giving dated courses a new look.
