Top 10 UNC Moments from 2023-24, part 3: BEST Season of Hubert Davis Era | Baseball makes CWS | Erin Matson & UNC Field Hockey are unreal

The end of July is upon us and that means it’s time for the Top 10 Most Impactful Moments from UNC Athletics during the 2023-24 academic year. We’re counting down 10 teams, individuals, or specific moments that happened during the season that left a lasting imprint on Carolina. In part three (of three) we’ll take the countdown from 3 to 1, talking about three teams that had great seasons. The Tar Heels had their best season in the young head coaching career of Hubert Davis. His club swept Duke, won the outright ACC Regular Season title, and earned a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament, where they made the Sweet 16. Scott Forbes and the Diamond Heels made the College World Series in his fourth year in charge. But neither Coach Davis or Coach Forbes matched the exploits of rookie head coach Erin Matson, who won her fifth field hockey National Championship (4 as a player, 1 as a coach).
