#362: My Insights From Recent Interview With Author, CEO & West Point Grad, Jason Van Camp.
These are some of the lessons & insights I gleaned from my recent interview with West Point Special Forces Officer & Author of Deliberate Discomfort, Jason Van Camp.
Here were some of the questions I asked him:
What was the toughest thing emotionally about West Point for you?
How did you grow as a leader from West Point to your conventional Army time?
What did you learn about yourself as a leader during your conventional time?
When did you start becoming self-aware as a leader?
Surprisingly, he shared how West Point was one of the hardest, most challenging experiences in his life…even in the face of multiple combat tours.
He also shared a leadership concept called “cold-blooded” used as a french phrase (that I don’t remember). He translated as being “cool as a cucumber” in the face of extreme adversity b/c that sets the tone / vibe of the culture of his team / unit.
When did you start becoming self-aware in your life?
What was one of the most challenging experiences you’ve had to overcome?
