Why isn't Donovan Mitchell getting more MVP hype & will the Cavaliers make a trade at the deadline?
The Cleveland Cavaliers are the hottest team in the NBA right now and currently the 2-seed in the Eastern Conference, but Donovan Mitchell isn't getting any type of MVP consideration.
Our question today is -- why not?
Mitchell has a case to be not just in the MVP race, but one of the front runners for the NBA's most prestigious awards for what he's done this season on the court and for helping the Cavs stay afloat despite numerous injuries to key players.
The NBA's Trade deadline is in a few days and Koby Altman has to decide whether or not this team will be a buyer on Thursday. The Cavs don't have many assets to work with, so a major upgrade may not be in the cards, but that doesn't mean he won't be sniffing around.
Plus, which player on the Cavs has been the biggest surprise this season? It could be in a good way or a bad way. There's a case to be made for a bunch of different players, including Sam Merrill, Jarrett Allen, Isaac Okoro, Donovan Mitchell or even Max Strus.
