8/20/24 - Host Doug Stephan and Dr. Ken Kronhaus of Lake Cardiology (352-735-1400) cover a number of topics. Good news consists of a study showing that cigarette smoking in the US is down to 11% for smokers. Unfortunately, a lot of former cigarette smokers have swapped their habit for vaping, which is shown in studies to do nothing in terms of avoiding certain types of cancers related to smoking. Alcohol consumption in anyone over the age of 60 years could contribute to an increase in cancer deaths, especially in those who already have health issues, and a new study has dispelled that light/moderate alcohol consumption is good for the heart. Apparently, that’s not as true as was once believed. It doesn’t seem like COVID-19 is going anywhere anytime soon, but is there a way to more easily diagnose long-covid? Doug and Dr. Ken discuss. Symptoms of the COVID-19 variants, treatment options, and healthy ways to boost your immune system. They discuss that, too. Plus, how much screen time is OK for kids and at what age is there a bigger risk for addiction? Dr. Ke has your answer.
