A Look Back: Who Is Karen Read And Why Was She On Trial? (Part 1)

The high-profile murder trial of Karen Read revolves around the death of Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe in 2022. Prosecutors allege that Read, her boyfriend's girlfriend, is responsible for O'Keefe's death and have charged her with second-degree murder. However, Read's defense team contends that she is being framed as part of a cover-up.

After over a year of questioning, Read's attorneys have been granted permission by Norfolk Superior Court Judge Beverly Cannone to raise the crucial question: Who killed Officer O'Keefe? This decision allows Read's defense to pursue a third-party culprit defense, despite objections from prosecutors. As a result, the trial is expected to focus heavily on whether Read or someone else is responsible for O'Keefe's death.
