Elixir Energy Ltd (ASX:EXR) managing director Neil Young joins Proactive’s Tylah Tully to discuss the completion of the Daydream-2 stimulation program, part of its Project Grandis in Queensland’s Taroom Trough.
The company successfully stimulated six separate zones in the well, including the Lorelle Sandstone, which had previously flowed gas, three sandstones above it and two coal zones. The stimulation program employed various novel methods, some of which Elixir believes were used for the first time in Australia. This innovative approach is part of the company’s research and development efforts to leverage advances in stimulation technology since the Taroom Trough was first appraised around a decade ago.
The project is now shifting to the flow testing phase, with Elixir aiming to confirm separate gas flows from the coals and initiate the conversion of prospective resources into contingent resources. Additionally, it plans to mill out all plugs and flow all zones together. The duration of the flow test will depend on the results and clean-up time with formal reporting to follow reactively as results become available.
Young commended the technical team and contractors for their work and highlighted the significance of pioneering key aspects of the stimulation phase in Australia.
