"From what I've been through, from what I've seen, I never thought I'd be in this position where I'm at right now." 2x Super Bowl Champ L'Jarius Sneed
As we continue to make our way through NFL Training camps, we are nearing the end of the tour which means Football season is around the corner and we are sitting with star players from around the league getting inside scoop, hearing never-told-before stories and going inside the locker room mentality of the 32 teams as they prepare for the 2024 season.
Tennessee made big moves this offseason by revamping their secondary, acquiring two-time Super Bowl champion L'Jarius Sneed from the Kansas City Chiefs who is embracing his new role with the Titans as the cornerstone of the team's defense. During our Pivot training camp visit, Ryan, Fred, and Channing were eager to sit down with the new Titan, not just for what he's accomplished on the field but the odds he's beat off the field to be where he is today.
On this episode of the Pivot Podcast in partnership with Fanatics, the guys listen and learn more about the man behind the champion and how L'Jarius' path to the NFL was anything but easy. In an emotional conversation, Sneed reveals the motivation behind his gritty play, his relationship with his parents, near death experiences, the loss of his brother and how his life has transformed since his championship run in Kansas city and even more so after signing a four-year, $76.4 million deal this offseason. Never did Sneed believe as a young boy born in jail, with both his parents in and out of incarceration through his childhood, that he could go onto achieve the highest of dreams playing the game he loves and eventually changing his entire family generation and dynamic. Through loss and heartbreak, Sneed has developed a certain on-field instinct that makes him one of the most dynamic players in the game and through forgiveness, he's learned to appreciate the great moments and fulfill a promise to always take care of his mama.
Switching gears to the Xs and Os, Sneed was sad to leave his Chiefs teammates behind on an often underrated defense but looks forward to this fresh start with the Titans and isn't letting up on the gas after his back to back Super Bowl wins, he feels he is just getting started. The guys ask him about his shut down plays that have made him one of the best while Sneed gets honest about the Chiefs trade, the fiery competition between him and Ja'Marr Chase, Stefon Diggs, Tyreek Hill, the Zay Flowers play that sent his Chiefs team to the Super Bowl and even sharers his thoughts on the Taylor Swift takeover.
While Sneed may be a man of few words in the locker room, he leads through example and allows his play on the field to talk for him. Make sure to subscribe to YouTube for hints on upcoming cities, guests and follow along for more training camp content. Big season ahead!!
