El Instituto de Investigación de Materiales (IUMA) de la Universidad de Alicante ha desarrollado un reactor electroquímico que permite regenerar entre el 90-100% del carbón activado agotado procedente de diferentes industrias (tratamiento de aguas residuales, potabilización de agua, purificación de gases y líquidos, recuperación de metales, etc.) de forma rápida, selectiva, muy económica, y en las mismas instalaciones donde se encuentra el carbón activado agotado.
