Maximus Resources Ltd (ASX:MXR, OTC:MXRRF) managing director Tim Wither joins Proactive’s Tylah Tully to discuss a reverse circulation drill program at the Bird Rock and Kandui lithium prospects in Western Australia as part of the Lefroy Lithium Joint Venture with Korea Mine Rehabilitation and Mineral Resources Corporation (KOMIR).
The program includes 14 holes covering approximately 1,500 metres with nine holes targeting newly discovered spodumene-bearing pegmatites at Bird Rock and five holes at Kandui to further assess the continuity of mineralisation.
The drilling at Bird Rock aims to understand the pegmatite's dip and direction. At Kandui, this third phase of drilling follows geological modelling and aims to explore large, spodumene-bearing pegmatites identified in previous phases. Although initial lithium grades were lower than expected, the discovery of fertile pegmatites points to potential high-grade zones. Notable previous intersections include 6 metres at 1.11% Li2O and 18 metres at 0.24% Li2O.
Under the JV, KOMIR is funding up to US$3 million for lithium exploration to earn a 30% interest. Drilling results are expected within 3-6 weeks, and a site visit by KOMIR is planned for October.
