GPs have complained to the Commerce Commission over government contracts they say are illegal and unfair and hurting patients. The General Practice Owners Association filed a formal complaint against Te Whatu Ora for alleged breaches of the Fair trading Act.The Association claims GPs have no negotiating power and Te Whatu Ora adopts a take it or leave it attitude. It said the unfair contracts mean General Practices are struggling to remain solvent, while reducing hours and that leading longer waits and more pressure on ED's, Genpro chair Doctor Angus Chambers spoke to Lisa Owen.
