Ismael Zambada Sicairos, known as "El Mayito Flaco," is a key figure within the Sinaloa Cartel, having inherited a leadership role after the abduction and arrest of his father, Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, orchestrated by Joaquín Guzmán López, son of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán. Raised in the shadow of his father's cautious and strategic leadership, El Mayito Flaco now faces a power struggle within the cartel against Los Chapitos, the ambitious sons of El Chapo, who favor a more violent approach. While maintaining the cartel's operations globally, particularly in synthetic drugs, El Mayito Flaco's leadership is tested by both internal factionalism and the external threat posed by the CJNG, a rival cartel rapidly expanding across Mexico. As of 2024, his ability to keep the cartel united amid these pressures will determine its future.
