E165: How Hormonal Birth Control Affects the Gut and How to Replenish & Restore Gut Health Post Pill
Send us a text
Welcome back to our birth control September series, we're finally moving into the conversation of how to replenish your body after birth control and recover from the effects it has had on your hormones and gut.
Today, gut health is the main focus and I'm sharing some of the ways birth control affects the gut that are often overlooked, including an increased risk of leaky gut and even a 30% increased risk of severe gut symptoms like IBD. I believe that women deserve fully informed consent when given any medication, and gut health is not something we're often given info about when we start taking birth control.
Birth control can also cause you to burn through more nutrients and minerals so I'm walking you through the steps I would take if I were coming off of birth control, trying to restore my gut from previous birth control use, or preparing to conceive after birth control.
