Singapore GP Reflection - Lando's Statement Win, Ferrari Fumbles Again, Ricciardo's Last Race?! | EP37
Welcome back to the Track Limits Podcast! Tune in with Swish, Feven and Mikey as they unpack all the highlights from the recently concluded Singapore Grand Prix.
After a strong showing in Baku, McLaren set their sights on extending their lead in the constructors' championship. Ferrari, known for their strength on street circuits, aimed to steal a win in Singapore. Throughout practice, both teams fiercely competed for the top three spots, trading positions session by session.
However, qualifying told a different story. Ferrari missed key opportunities, with Sainz crashing on his outlap and Leclerc failing to put together a competitive lap. The surprise of the session was Max Verstappen, who secured a front-row start. Even Red Bull didn’t expect their car to make it into Q3, but Max managed to set a lap time within three-tenths of Lando Norris.
The Singapore Grand Prix is notorious for being a race defined by pace, qualifying position, and tire strategy, as overtaking on this track is notoriously difficult—even with four DRS zones. This year was no exception. After the first lap, Lando pulled ahead with a commanding lead, at one point extending it to over 30 seconds, while the rest of the field scrambled for optimal positions.
With Lando now just 52 points behind Max in the driver's championship, all eyes are on the final six races to see if we’re headed for a title showdown like 2021. As the three-week break begins, every team will be hard at work, searching for upgrades to bring to Austin and narrowing the gap to McLaren.
