Will there soon be supply shortages similar to what Americans experienced during Covid-19?
5:10pm- International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) President Drives A Bentley. The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board writes of ILA President Harold Daggett: “While presenting himself as a man of the people, the union chief made more than $900,000 last year. The New York Times reported in 2017 that he owned a 76-foot yacht and rode around in a Bentley luxury car. Mr. Daggett’s union has a stranglehold on the ports, and as you can read nearby he intends to use it. ‘I will cripple you,’ he said in an interview last month, referring to the ports and the U.S. economy.” Another report notes that Daggett’s New Jersey mansion has a massive brick pizza oven (Rich is jealous)! 5:20pm- While campaigning in Michigan on Thursday, Donald Trump exclaimed: “My pro-worker policies are one of the major reasons why I have been overwhelmingly endorsed by the rank-and-file membership of the Teamsters [Union]—including 62% of the Teamster members in Michigan.”
5:30pm- What Products Will—and Won’t—Be Affected by Ports Strike? The Wall Street Journal Staff writes that thankfully “about 85% of toilet tissue is produced domestically and distributed by trains and trucks.” However, other products like chemicals, car parts, furniture, bananas, and toys may all soon be in short supply.
