As we nudge ever closer to Spring, on this week's show we not only have a bunch of renewal information for various tv shows, plus all the usual tv news, and an interview with composer Sage Lewis, who scored the film Operator, which you can watch right now on Netflix UK!
Operator, which was one of Indiewire's 7 Hidden Gems of SXSW last year, is a dark comedy about love and technology, with Indiewire highlighting it as a "an ideal humorous mixture of contemporary challenges and intimate conundrums that fit right in at SXSW.” It stars Martin Starr from Silicon Valley, and sees him play a programmer, who uses his wife's (Mae Whitman) for his company's customer service app. However, trouble starts to arise, when he starts to rely more on the digital version of his wife, than his flesh & blood, actual wife...
Sage also wrote the score for a unique interactive VR piece called The Surrogate, crafted a beautiful score that immerses participants in the point of view of the protagonist. The user controls the story, leading up to a dramatic climax. Empowered by Sage’s music, the film’s breakthrough innovations in AR/VR storytelling led to its nomination for SXSW’s Interactive Innovation Award in AR/VR.
