In kali santarana upnishad, there is a mantra called Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare.
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was so devoted to Krishna that he went to vrindavan to find where Krishna was born, where he might have played, take the padam dhooli from the from the land where Krishna might have walked 5000 years ago. And, with the power of his tapas, with the power of his devotion, he reversed the mantra to Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare.
He was not a mantrini in the sense he was not a knower of the science of mantras yet he did not care about chand, beej, kilak and the rest. He constructed his own mantra and millions of people even now are getting helped by chanting this maha mantra. By help, it does not mean that they get any benefit or their problem ends. Let’s never pray or chant thinking that God will take away my problems. You take care of what you created, you take care of what you chose and he will take care of what he created, he will take care of his choices.
