Om Swami addressing a question at the teens/youth transformation retreat.
The question is if someone insults you, should you say the thought that comes to your mind? Or should you ignore it? If yes, then how much should you ignore? When somebody insults you, there is no rhyme or reason as to if you will give them a piece of your mind, or overlook and don’t react. You don’t have to give the answer back right away because at that moment you are agitated. At that moment you are hurt. If you are going to answer at that very moment, chances are you will say things that you did not mean to say. And things will become more complicated.
Let some time pass, maybe a day or two and tell them that you would like to speak to them. If you want to be heard by someone, regardless of who that person is, you must learn to speak in the same tone without raising your voice.
