In 2013, Melissa Weaver was diagnosed with breast cancer and put her mental health private practice on hold to undergo treatment. What she discovered in the process was the opposite of despair. She describes her experience as a “transformative process.” Melissa is now a cancer survivor, author of Reconstruction: Defying Cancer and Building a More Purposeful Life, and a professor at Virginia Commonwealth University.
