Let’s face it – during the winter month's our kids are not usually clamoring to head outside and run around in nature. And if we are really honest, neither are we. Did you know that it is possible to do nature study in the winter without setting a foot outside?
In episode 17 of the Tips for Homeschool Science Show, I am going to share with you all our favorite way to do nature study during the frigid winter months!

What is nature study?
• Nature study seeks to find and observe science in the outdoor world.
Nature study during the winter months – heading outside can be too cold, so we take 15 minutes at the window instead!
1. Sit down at a window, looking outside.
2. Set the timer for fifteen minutes.
3. Wait and observe what happens.
Nature study subjects perfect for the winter months:
• Snow
• Tree bark
• Evergreens
• Lichens
• Rocks
• Holly
• Birds
• Ice
• Animal Tracks
• Why leaves fall?
