This is a very special episode of the Paperback Rocker Podcast, featuring an interview with legendary music video director, Dean Karr. He has directed videos for Iron Maiden, Slayer, Marilyn Manson, Shooter Jennings, Dave Matthews, Duran Duran, Willie Nelson, Cypress Hill, Godsmack, Corrosion of Conformity, Ozzy Osbourne, Queens of the Stone Age, Velvet Revolver, and many, many others. He even directed a video for the John Lennon song, "I'm Losing You" that featured members of Cheap Trick!
For a complete list of all the work Dean has done, check out his WIKI page.
Dean has also done many amazing album covers, including Tool's "Undertow" and Pantera's "Far Beyond Driven".
Dean tells stories about some of the milestones in his career, including Danzig's affinity for a certain pastry, food fights with members of Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin, behind the scenes of Slayer's famous live "Reign In Blood" video, dinner with Yoko in John Lennon's apartment, and tons more.
Wait until you hear what got thrown onstage at the mega-concert, "Rock in Rio" while Iron Maiden was playing in front of 250,000 people. Dean did lots of work for Maiden during the "Brave New World" album and tour, including directing their video for "The Wicker Man" and the aforementioned "Rock In Rio" longform DVD.
Dean also goes on expeditions to dive with and photograph Great White Sharks!
