这，是人类长久以来所面临的一个沉重的命题。

1971年列侬创作了Imagine这首歌，歌词中没有“爱”或者“自由”这样的字眼，列侬也从没有想到要写一首圣歌，但这首歌后来却成摇滚乌托邦的圣歌。

2014年10月31日，苹果CEO Tim Cook在彭博《商业周刊》网站上撰文，公开出柜，承认了自己的同性恋身份。他这么写道，
I don’t consider myself an activist, but I realize how much I’ve benefited from the sacrifice of others. So if hearing that the CEO of Apple is gay can help someone struggling to come to terms with who he or she is, or bring comfort to anyone who feels alone, or inspire people to insist on their equality, then it’s worth the trade-off with my own privacy.
我认为自己并不是一位激进主义者，但是，我已经意识到我从其他人的牺牲中受益匪浅。所以，如果听到苹果首席执行官是一位同性恋者能够帮助那些饱受性别困境的人、或者给那些感到孤独的带来安慰、亦或者激励人们坚持他们的平等观，那么，我现在公布我的隐私也就物有所值了。
Being gay has given me a deeper understanding of what it means to be in the minority and provided a window into the challenges that people in other minority groups deal with every day. It’s made me more empathetic, which has led to a richer life. It’s been tough and uncomfortable at times, but it has given me the confidence to be myself, to follow my own path, and to rise above adversity and bigotry.
作为一名同性恋者，我能够更好地理解这在少数人当中意味着什么，而且这也让获得一个更好地了解其他少数人群每天面临的挑战的窗口。这也让我更加富同情心，而且也让我拥有一个更加富裕的生活。但是，我也因此而多次面临着一些困境和沮丧，但是，这也给我带来了更多的自信，让我坚持遵循自己的道路，并超越困境与偏执。
