This episode features a track, "Let's Live Again," from 2006 Berklee graduate Lauren Kinhan's critically acclaimed new album, "A Sleepin' Bee," which offers new takes on the songs of Nancy Wilson, the legendary jazz vocalist and 1994 Berklee honorary doctorate recipient. Kinhan recorded the album in Berklee's Shames Family Scoring Stage with eight-time Grammy-winning producer Elliot Scheiner (a 2006 Berklee honorary doctorate recipient) as students observed the recording session turned master class.
Students Andres Abello, Pedro Calloni, and Loren Dorland worked as engineers on the project and Kinhan's band featured alumni Matt Penman on bass and alumna Ingrid Jensen as special guest trumpeter.
Kinhan will perform live in Boston on November 8, 2017 at Berklee's Red Room at Cafe 939. Tickets are available via berklee.edu/redroom.
"A Sleepin' Bee" is available for purchase via iTunes and more information, including a blog from Kinhan about recording at Berklee, is available at LaurenKinhan.com.
