Correction and message from Om Swami:
In this audio, I've erroneously stated that shastras are released and astras are worn. It's the other way around. Well knowing the meaning of the two words, not sure how I went about making this mistake in this audio! Please accept my sincere apologies and humble gratitude to all those lovely people who wrote to us and commented here pointing out this mistake. Thank you again.
Peace.
Swami
The question is who should we believe? There are different stories in each puranas. Do you know why vedas and puranas were written in Sanskrit language? It is because these are not to be read by common people. This is the knowledge that would come from the mouth of someone who is knowledgeable and learned. If I give you the relativity story of Einstein and tell you to read it and you will understand the secret of physics. You will say what is it?
So, scriptures (shastra) are weapons. Do you know the difference between shastra and astra? Astra is to be released and shastra is to be worn. The scriptures are like shastra, they are meant to come out of the mouth of the learned ones. It is not something that is to be used for self-study. In the olden times, the guru would give the purnas to their disciples and ask them to write them on the birch leaf. The disciples would get so engrossed in writing them that they would not have time to understand it. And if there was a question, the guru would answer.
