The question is that if in the society, a person or any other living being is going through suffering then what can we do to reduce their suffering? Would our prayer have effect on those beings? Yes, why not? It is possible that prayer does not directly affect them but with prayer your heart will become gentle. And, when your heart becomes soft, you will feel other’s pain more. If you can feel other’s pain then only you will be able to extend your hand to help them. If we don’t feel other’s pain then we won’t extend any help to them. So, prayer is done so that you can become gentle.
There is no benefit from a prayer where on one side we are chanting and suddenly we raise our voice if something is not done. When people pray, they pray as if they are doing a big favour to others or to the society. What is the use of that prayer where you cannot control your anger and other negative emotions? Prayer is a just a small part. You have to somehow convert that prayer into action.
