Joining me today is Wendy Orr, who is an award-winning author, who grew up in France, Canada and the USA. She was a compulsive reader and writer from an early age and now writes for children, young adults and adults. Her books have been published in 25 countries and languages.
Before her writing career, she was an occupational therapist. Then one day, an unexpected car accident broke her neck but made her a writer.
She also worked on the screenplay that turned her book Nim’s Island into a 2008 Hollywood feature film starring Jodie Foster, Abigail Breslin and Gerard Butler. The sequel, Nim at Sea, starring Bindi Irwin as Nim was released in 2013.
In this conversation, Wendy shares the realities of healing from her near death car accident. She talks candidly about the darkness and the light and what kept her going through the tough times. This nugget of wisdom is something we can all tuck into our pocket and apply to our challenging moments.
Find out if Wendy believes in writer's block or not; and her suggestions for anyone who feels creatively stifled.
She's a lovely human being sharing the wonder of being a writer.
