“Being in a wheelchair, it was really tough. I had no idea what my future was going to be like. Until you experience something where you break your legs, once you’re in that position, you can’t see any sort of light at the end of the tunnel. You don’t know what to expect.” - Tyler Farnham, The Moment HQ podcast
Tyler Farnham has spent the last decade doing what he loves, ocean lifeguarding and teaching surfing.
In April of 2009 Tyler suffered a near death skydiving accident braking his legs, arm, jaw and losing 9 teeth. The following year tyler wrote and self published his book, Reaching Cloud 9. He went on to give motivational seminars throughout Florida while relearning to walk, surf, skydive and lifeguard.
Now Tyler is working on his second book, Beyond Cloud 9 and hoping to one day give a TED talk. Tyler is always trying to push others to live out their dream and do what they love.
He has an absolutely incredible story. Tyler still isn’t sure why and how he survived the accident, but his approach toward life shows us all that we can get past our tough moments.
“It’s tough to stay positive. Music for me was a big motivator - it would keep my spirits up.”
Life is always going to present us with challenges, that is inevitable. However, we have a choice as to how we respond. We can choose to see the obstacles in front of us as the very thing that will spur us forward to being a better person - if we let it.
