Over a million homeowners in the U.S. have solar. We have lot customers at Cinnamon Energy Systems with old systems where we occasionally do maintenance. We take care of occasional monitoring issues when the monitoring system that works with your inverter isn’t exactly working properly. This is historically most common with micro-inverters and systems that don’t have cellular monitoring. We’ve found that any system with cellular monitoring works really well. And now we’re getting a lot of requests to upgrade systems with battery storage. It’s increasing common for customers to express, interest in battery storage, or who have an old system and want to upgrade the system or replace it. It’s kind of like when people have a car that is ten years old and they want to replace it, but that does not necessarily apply to solar.
Solar panels are really reliable. There are no moving parts. They just keep working. Solar panels aren’t like an old car that you need to replace every ten years or so. These old panels still work almost as well as brand new panels. They only difference between old panels and new panels is the new panels are more efficient. The old ones are still generating electricity, still reducing your electricity bill, but under some circumstances you might want to upgrade.
So when should you consider upgrading your solar system? Listen to this week’s Energy Show as we discuss upgrades, add-ons and considerations for purchasing solar for your home or business.
