Marten Mickos shares the benefits and challenges involved in building businesses in the open source and cloud computing spaces. As CEO of MySQL AB for seven years, Mickos grew that company from a garage start-up to the second largest open source company in the world. He is now CEO of Eucalyptus Systems whose underlying technology was developed at UC Santa Barbara. Since its origin as an academic research project in 2007, Eucalyptus has become the dominant open source cloud solution, boasting over 25,000 clouds formed.
