George Lucas said Star Wars was meant to act like a Tone Poem, where certain story beats “rhyme.” To that end, John asks Matt if we see a broken echo between Yoda's decision to let Luke go toward a possible dark fate in The Empire Strikes Back, and Luke's temptation to eliminate Ben's future seen in The Last Jedi.
