Episode 47: US Open Preview Pt. 1 with Jamie McDonald
Welcome to…. A Four-Part US Open preview edition of Hey, Great Shot!! Covering each quarter of the draw in four separate podcasts, hosts Alex Gruskin and Max Rothman attempt to examine every part of the 2018 US Open men’s singles tournament. To help them analyze the action, the guys bring in Cracked Racquets writers Jamie McDonald, Alex Gornet, and Matt Stachowiak, as well as University of Virginia All-American and World No. 356 Thai-Son Kwiatkowski.
In part one of the preview, Cracked Racquets writer Jamie McDonald joins hosts Alex Gruskin and Max Rothman to breakdown Rafael Nadal’s quarter of the draw. The guys discuss the quarter’s biggest contenders, best young prospects, likeliest candidates for upsets, and the chances of the American players in the section. Gruskin also unsuccessfully attempts to make a case for Sam Querrey, while Jamie and Rothman reiterate their love of Rafa’s draw.
