In Episode #11 of The Alex Manos Podcast I speak with Functional Medicine Practitioner Steve Grant on blood sugar regulation. We go on a journey from ingestion of food to transport of glucose/sugar in to the cell. As a result Steve discusses the two phases of the insulin response and various hormones including GLP-1, glucagon and insulin. We discuss the importance of gut health, the potential mechanisms behind reactive hypoglycaemia (the general term for having a hypo after eating, which is when blood glucose levels become dangerously low following a meal) and keeping strategies simple, even though the physiology of all of this is complex.
