Dr. Eva Enders is one of over 17 fish biologists working out of Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s Freshwater Institute located in Winnipeg Manitoba, along with numerous other technicians and scientists. The Institute currently tracks over 750 fish from six species of freshwater fish throughout Manitoba’s Red River, Lake Winnipeg and so much more using advanced telemetry technology. Understanding just how widely traveled these different fish species are and where they go to spawn and over-winter, is helping DFO and the Manitoba government to manage valuable commercial and recreational fish resources by making it possible to make decisions based on science.
Listen as Blue fish Radio discusses with Eva the six species being tracked and what they are learning from the data.
