“Victorious Christianity is not found in knowing a lot of theology, or manufacturing the right kind of feelings. It’s found in abiding in the presence of a Person.” (JD Greear) Not only did Jesus leave us with an advocate, helper and comforter in the Holy Spirit that would walk beside and within us, but He gave us the blueprint of how we should walk beside others. The most effective relationships are those done side-by-side. As we live out the gospel, there are times when we will go ahead and prepare the way, but those intimate relationships are done beside each other. If we walk ahead of those we lead and influence, we are pulling them or making them go at a pace they are not able to achieve. If we walk behind them, we are most likely either pushing them again at a pace they cannot achieve or we are not truly invested with them.
