Dr. Mao Shing Ni first began his studies in Chinese medicine with his father, Hua-Ching Ni, a renowned physician and author-teacher. After earning his doctorate and Ph.D. in Oriental Medicine and Nutrition, Dr. Mao completed his postgraduate training and residency at Shanghai Medical University and Zhong Shan Hospital in China. During his residency, it was at the Shanghai Cancer Hospital where he was first exposed to integrative oncology—employing the best of both Western and Chinese medicine for the care of cancer patients. After returning to the US in the mid 80’s, Dr. Mao started working collaboratively with oncologists to help cancer patients cope with side effects from chemotherapy and radiation and improve quality of life. Since that time, he has worked thousands of cancer patients.
