Anyone who has or ever has had a shoulder, elbow, knee, ankle or muscle injury that keeps playing up, this episode is for you.
Today’s interview is with the girls from the Bay Wellness Centre in Downtown, Vancouver, and we were discussing two treatments that are just starting to gain traction even though they have been around for over 100 years.
These two treatments are Prolotherapy and PRP.
Prolotherapy is a treatment used for chronic pain conditions, sports injuries and osteoarthritis.
PRP; Platelet Rich Plasma is a treatment used for pain associated with degeneration of the body’s tissues, such as ligament tears, back or neck injuries, sprains and strains and osteoarthritis.
In the interview we breakdown:
What Prolotherapy & PRP treatments actually are
How these two treatments are administered
When Prolotherapy & PRP should be used and when they shouldn’t
The positive results they have witnessed from Prolotherapy & PRP
If there are any negative side effects with the treatments
How long recovery time is compared to conventional treatments
Whether the RICE protocol for injuries s still the best way to go
What exercises you should be performing after a strain, tear or rupture
The science behind how Prolotherapy & PRP work & much more
Having witnessed how powerful these two treatments are I knew I had to get an interview with someone who applied this method of healing everyday. Luckily enough I didn’t get just one person, I got two, and both the girls were a pleasure to talk to as well as being very knowledgeable about this subject. The fact they use the treatments themselves is evidence enough that they believe in their powers.
From my personal point of view, anything that naturally stimulates the body’s natural healing mechanisms and means you don’t have to go for painful, inconvenient surgery is something that needs to be strongly considered.
