Episode 32: Danielle Blunt On Health Care Access for Sex Workers
Episode 32 features an interview with NYC based dominatrix, full spectrum doula, and sex worker rights advocate Danelle Blunt. We discuss the work that she did with Persist Health Project, connecting those who work in the sex trades with affirming health care services. We also examine the way that stigma impacts health care and some strategies that sex workers and other marginalized communities employ in order to get the care they need. We also talk about the value of doulas.
For our news segment, we highlight a recently published Slate article by Phoebe Friesen titled, “Why Are Pelvic Exams on Unconscious, Unconsenting Women Still Part of Medical Training?” The article explores the ethics of medical students doing pelvic exams on women without their permission or knowledge.
