In our 6th episode in our series on who God is we discuss how God is omniscient (all knowing), omnipotent (all powerful), and omnipresent (all present). Many of us have heard of the “omnis” for years, but we haven’t taken a lot of time to truly think about what they mean. We would love for you to join us as we explore how these attributes of God lead us to a better understanding of who He is.
Quotes:
“God fully knows himself and all things actual and possible in one simple and eternal act.” -Wayne Grudem, Systematic Theology
“He knows everything about everything and everybody all the time. He also know the future no less than the past and the present.”-J.I. Packer
“It’s one thing to know that God is in control, but it’s another thing to know the God that is in control.” -Jonathan Hunt
“God is able to do all His holy will” -Wayne Grudem, Systematic Theology
“The power that God has is a power that nobody else has. Others can change or manipulate objects, but only God has true creative power.”
“ God does not have size or spatial dimensions and his present at every point of space with his whole being yet got acts differently in different places“ -Wayne Grudem, Systematic Theology
“God is not just everywhere all the time, he is fully there all the time. This is called his immensity.”
“Holiness describes both the majesty of God and the purity and moral perfection of His nature. This goes back to God not being able to do anything out of his nature, which is morally perfect.” -Jerry Bridges
“The thing that makes these attributes stand out about God is the word Holy. Holy Omisience, Holy Omnipotence, and Holy Omnipresence. This causes a huge sense of gratitude instead of overwhelming fear.”
Psalm 23 “even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for you are with me”. “The with me of God does not depend on our worthiness, but his will. He wills that his chosen children will never be left alone” - Jen Wilkin
