Ep. 44 - Genesis - Chapters 10&11 - The Tower of Babel
In this episode we study Genesis 10 and 11. We discuss how God has a sense of humor. We laugh about misheard song lyrics. And we see more genealogy, yay! Then we discuss what happens in the story of the tower of babel, and how God sometimes extends mercy, in order for a more glorious and more beautiful thing. Our hope is that we can break down some of the confusion over this passage and draw attention to how sovereign our God is.
Quotes:
“God’s will is not that we found our joy in praise of man, but find joy in knowing and praising God.” -Piper
“If you ask yourself ‘if no one saw me do this would I still do it?’ if the answer is no then you are doing it for the praise of man.”
“Yes God intends for us to live in community but he also intends for us to go and tell.”
“We think if we obey in one area really well, that we will be exempt from having to obey elsewhere.”
“Things that seem like a barrier are sometimes actually boundaries.”
“Sometimes God decides to be just, and sometimes we see Him extend mercy. When we see Him extend mercy, he does it for a purpose, it’s not like he forgot.”
“When He extends mercy, a lot of times it is because it will ultimately lead to a more beautiful more glorious thing.”
