“My focus is really on the ripple effect” 

John used to focus on the words, message, and value bombs he drops in each episode. While he does still do that to some extent, he says now he sees the bigger picture of inspiring people around the world to take action in their businesses and podcasts. [2:24] 

“How you get to where you need to be is by surrounding yourself with the right people.” 

Imposter syndrome will try to keep you “in your lane.” Many times JLD asked himself, “who am I to reach out to Gary Vee, Amy Porterfield, Tim Ferris… for 20 minutes of their time to ask questions I’m curious about?” The fact is, you’re the average of the 5 people you spend your time with. You get to choose who you spend time with. [5:27] 

I think the biggest mistake I see - they start having the focus of trying to serve more people less.”  

In their desire to serve more people, they’re serving those people less. Instead, how can you serve your current people more. It comes down to the micro-connections. I challenge you to go deeper with your current audience. [9:08]
