Ep. 46 - Genesis - Chapters 12-15 - The Call and The Covenant
In this week’s episode we cover chapters 12-15 of Genesis. We discuss the beginning of God creating a people for himself through Abram and his family. We look at the call to Abram, the covenant that God makes with him, and how these point us to Jesus. We see that the call to Abram, to have absolute confidence in God, is the same call for us today. We continue to see the repeating themes of how taking our eyes off God can lead to sin, and God reminding His people of that creation mandate - to be fruitful and to have dominion.
Quotes:
“Having dealt in judgement at Babel, God now deals in grace. This has been and will always be true of God’s dealings. According to His infinite wisdom, judgement only serves to prepare the way for greater manifestations of His redeeming love.” - Gleanings from Genesis
“God’s purpose to give his creatures all they need to fulfill their lives in His creation as He intends for them” - Drama of Scripture
“The second you take your eyes off and put them on your circumstances your going to think, ‘I have got to fix this’. Forgetting the fact you are in the hands of the only one who has control over it.”
“His ability to fulfill his promises, even when we royally mess up, is true.”
“Faith doesn’t stop with belief. It’s accompanied with obedience. It’s resting in who God is and then acting from that place.”
“Our faith does not lie in our obedience but in who God is.”
“Our insecurities, fears, and doubts can never be banished by the knowledge of who we are. They can only be banished by the knowledge of I AM.” - Jen Wilkin
