Minute 099: I’ll Miss Hollywood

Best known for his television roles as Rick Sammler on Once and Again, as Det. Joey Indelli on Crime Story, as Jordan Collier on The 4400, and as Dr. Jon Fielding on the Tales of the City miniseries. He is also known for his recurring role as Luke Fuller in Dynasty which was his first prominent role. His most notable films include Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Enough. He portrayed Darren Richmond on the AMC television series The Killing, and played Dr. Alan Farragut in the SyFy series Helix.

And he was the title character in a little film called The Rocketeer.

Summary

On the bridge of the burning dirigible, Cliff struggles to put out the flames. The ship is sinking toward the Hollywood Hills.

Neville Sinclair straps the Cirrus X-3 to his back and moves toward the opening on the side of the cabin.

“For God’s sake, Sinclair,” says Cliff, “help us get these flames out!”

“Goodbye, Jenny,” says Sinclair. “I vish I could take you vith me.” Cliff throws down a metal plate in frustration.

Jenny looks at Sinclair. “Everything about you was a lie,” says Jenny.

“It vasn’t lies, Jenny,” replies Sinclair. “It vas acting.” Sinclair laughs, and gives a Fascist salute to Cliff and Jenny, his hand now wrapped with the X-3’s throttle controls. As he turns, the leaking fuel from the X-3 spills down the left nacelle of the rocket pack.

“I’ll miss Hollywood,” Neville says, in a parting shot to Jenny and Cliff. Neville ignites the rocket pack and flies out the side of the ship.

“I don’t think so,” says Cliff. Jenny watches as Neville flies away.

In the distance, Neville flies toward the camera, laughing maniacally. Suddenly, the leaking fuel ignites, and Neville spins out of control.

Cliff and Jenny watch Neville’s flight from the burning cabin.

Neville is engulfed in flames as the rocket pack propels him towards the right side of the HOLLYWOODLAND Sign. He crashes in-between the letters A and N. The rocket pack explodes, knocking down the final four letters of the famous sign.

Meanwhile, the cabin of the Luxembourg continues to burn.
